Tropical Pupcakes | Dog Treat Recipe

There is nothing better than making your own dog treats for your pug and with this Tropical Pupcakes recipe, your pug will love you more than usual. These Tropical Pupcakes are healthy, tasty and fun to make when you have time to kill at home.
TROPICAL PUPCAKES DOG TREAT RECIPE
Serves: 18 Mini Pupcakes
ICING INGREDIENTS
- 320mL cans of coconut milk
ICING DIRECTIONS
- Refrigerate so the coconut milk separates to be cream and water
- Remove just the cream from the can and add to a mixing bowl (use leftover water for pupcakes)
- Whip coconut cream until peaks form
- Place into a piping bag and pipe cream onto pupcakes
PINEAPPLE DECORATION INGREDIENTS
- 1 banana
- 1/2 kiwi fruit
- Pineapple mould
PINEAPPLE DECORATION DIRECTIONS
- Mash banana in a bowl
- Mash kiwi fruit in a bowl
- Add banana to bottom part of pineapple mould leaving the leaf area for the kiwi fruit
- Fill moulds until you run out of banana
- You should get about 18 from one banana
- Fill the leaf area of the mould with kiwi fruit
- Place moulds in freezer overnight
- Add to pupcakes just before serving once iced
PUPCAKE INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup buckwheat flour
- 1/2 cup organic coconut flakes
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp local honey
- 1/2 cup coconut water (from icing ingredients)
- 1 egg
PUPCAKE DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 160ºC
- In a bowl, mash banana and add baking powder so it fizzes
- Add buckwheat flour, coconut oil, coconut water, honey & egg
- Mix until well combined
- Add coconut flakes and mix through
- Divide evenly into cupcake pan
- Bake in oven for 15 minutes
NOTES
- You can switch the buckwheat flour for 1/2 cup of wholemeal flour if you can’t source it from your local health food store
- Store un-iced pupcakes in an airtight container in the fridge for up to one week or in the freezer for up to one month
- Give your pug a special treat of tropical pupcakes
- These should only be fed occasionally and should never replace your pug’s dietary needs
