Where do you live? We live in the Netherlands in the city Rotterdam.

How many pugs do you own?
We own two pugs Hera and Lizzy. Hera we got when she was a little tiny puglet. And Lizzy we got very recently. Lizzy is 7 months old.

What are their names? Hera and Lizzy

Is your current pug/s your first?
Yes, before this I (Patrick) did have pets but that’s when I was living with my parents. We had two dogs called Beau and Zoë. Lucas’ dad always had birds. So Hera was his first dog ever.

Do you think your pugs personality matches yours?
Hera’s personality does. She can be very lazy, just like me. Especially in the morning. But she also can be very energetic when is needed. With Lizzy we don’t know yet.

What did you expect a pug to be like before you got one?
I expected a breed that wouldn’t listen at all. Lots of pages I read on the internet stated that pugs can be very stubborn. But Hera can listen very good. Maybe it’s because we went to a puppy school. We put a lot of effort into training her.

What was different to your expectation once you got a pug?
I didn’t expect to be so involved in the pug community. We host a couple of pugwalks every year. Besides that we also love going to the doggy playground Bello. There is so much more then just owning a dog. You will get a lot of new friends. Beside that pugs are clowns and so funny. We knew that they could be a real clown, but not that much.

What would be your number 1 tip for new pug parents?
Put in the effort of going to puppy school and learn how to work with your pug. Hera can walk without her leash and that gives her freedom. We can call her and she will come straight to us.

What do you hate most about having a pug?
All of the hair. It’s EVERYWHERE!!!

What do you love most about having a pug?
Their little faces. They are so cute ?

What has been your biggest fear about owning a pug?
That Hera or Lizzy will be bitten by a big dog. It once happened to Hera. She was attacked by a German Sheppard. She only got a little cut in her ear. But their was a lot of blood. So for me it was a real nightmare.

Have you experienced any of the typical pug health problems? If so, how have you overcome them? If not, what precautions have you taken to prevent health problems?
Hera has a little spot on her eyes. It can’t go away. As a pug owner you know that the pugs eyes are a fragile thing. So keep in mind to check those.

Why did you choose to start a social media account for your pug/s?
I chose to open an Instagram because I was living with Lucas, but my mom wanted to see pictures of Hera. At first I always sending her pictures through text. But I wanted it to be more permanent. So I was posting it on Facebook. All my friends where really sick of seeing all those pug pictures so they where complaining. So I figured out that Instagram could be a option. So I opened an Instagram for Hera. We thought it could be like a pug only photo album. But eventually it grew out of hand. We gained loads of followers. And now we post picture for all the people how follow Hera and Lizzy.

Where can we follow your pugs adventures?
I changed the name recently because we got Lizzy. @Hera_pug wasn’t sufficient enough. Now we changed it into @hera.and.lizzys.world and also on Facebook with the same name.

I hope you enjoyed getting to meet the humans of Hera & Lizzy and picked up a tip or two about owning a pug.
