Everyone loves reading the Social Pug Profile interviews with pugs from the social media scene. Well now it is time to put the pug parents in the spotlight to answer some questions about what it is like to own a pug in the Pug Parent Profile. Get to know the humans behind the pugs you love and pick up a tip or two for life with your pug. This week we are getting to know the human of Humphrey!
Name: Mark Wood
Where do you live? Tunbridge Wells, in the county of Kent, UK
How many pugs do you own? 1
What are their names? Humphrey
Is your current pug/s your first? Yes, he is.
Do you think your pugs personality matches yours?
Definitely! We are both happy and energetic, love food and can be quite stubborn 🙂
What did you expect a pug to be like before you got one?
From pugs I had met and reading online, I was expecting Humphrey to be fun, loving and an absolute joy.
What was different to your expectation once you got a pug?
All of the above times by 1000.
What would be your number 1 tip for new pug parents?
To enjoy every second, but be on your toes as they are very mischievous.
What do you hate most about having a pug?
Having to go out and leave him, thankfully I work from home so I am with him a lot, but it always breaks my heart seeing his face as I go out the door. 🙁
What do you love most about having a pug?
That’s a very hard question, as there is so much to love. But I would have to say having a constant companion who never fails to make me smile and appreciate all the special little moments.
What has been your biggest fear about owning a pug?
Knowing that however long we get to spend together it will never be long enough.
Have you experienced any of the typical pug health problems? If so, how have you overcome them? If not, what precautions have you taken to prevent health problems?
Humphrey had a tooth problem, which I know can be an issue with pugs. I have always brushed his teeth and bought him chews, but despite this he still needed to have an extraction. So I am even more thorough now to prevent it happening again.
Why did you choose to start a social media account for your pug?
As a puppy Humphrey was always doing so many things that made me laugh, so being a cartoonist I decided I wanted to capture those special moments in cartoons. I later decided to share them on facebook as I wondered if other pug owners might enjoy them. I soon found out that pugs the world over have a whole lot in common.
I hope you enjoyed getting to meet the humans of Humphrey and picked up a tip or two about owning a pug.
