Pug Parent Profile | Jeannette
Everyone loves reading the Social Pug Profile interviews with pugs from the social media scene. Well now it is time to put the pug parents in the spotlight to answer some questions about what it is like to own a pug in the Pug Parent Profile. Get to know the humans behind the pugs you love and pick up a tip or two for life with your pug. This week we are getting to know the human of Maggie, Jeannette.
Name: My name is Jeannette van Hoven
Where do you live?
I live in the Netherlands, in a little town called Oud Beijerland. It is near Rotterdam, just an hour away from the beach.
How many pugs do you own?
I only have Maggie, my one and only pug and one and only love…
What are their names?
Is your current pug/s your first?
Maggie is my first pug, who I owned by myself, I’ve raised her from only 9 weeks old.
Do you think your pugs personality matches yours?
I am always outside, whenever it rains or shines, we are out there, because Maggie don’t mind the rain or wind. But when we don’t want to go outside…Netflix is never been better since I watch it with Maggie, The Blacklist is our favourite.
What did you expect a pug to be like before you got one?
I did not know what I would expect, because I got maggie as a present from my ex-boyfriend, however he was gone within just a month or two after I got Maggie….However…..She was the best present I ever got from anyone 🙂
He owned a boy-pug, his name was Mud, he was the sweetest big-brother a pug can wish for. He trained Maggie how to do her business outside, how to sit and how to use her begging puppy-eyes..
She was so damn cute and I loved her from the first moment I lay eyes on her….it was impossible to think I would give her up…. but I am a full time nurse, how can I take care of such a sweet little girl puggy?? But we have managed….Maggie learned so fast to be potty trained, to adjust with other people and dogs, like Auntie Jamie and Jeoffrey, I am so blessed to have such dear friends to love Maggie.
What was different to your expectation once you got a pug?
My life changed big-time once Maggie was in it, I did not stay any minutes more at my work then necessary. I only want to be with her…so she was never alone but always surrounded by people who loved her.
What would be your number 1 tip for new pug parents?
For new pug-parents I only want to say, make your new friend a part of your life, in all possible ways….take him or her everywhere, learn from her or him to see the world through their eyes, to see how beautifull life is….!!
What do you hate most about having a pug?
What I hate the most is that I am not able to be with her 24-7..
What do you love most about having a pug?
What I love the most about having a pug is that my life is so much better, everyone loves her, and everyone wants to spend time with me and Maggie, I have met so many new people since I have Maggie, it is such a joy to have met them. I am never alone, when I come home she is overwhelmed with joy, love and kisses, very wet kisses…..
What has been your biggest fear about owning a pug?
My biggest fear is that we have to say goodbye to each other….so we don’t think about it for at least a few years…
Have you experienced any of the typical pug health problems? If so, how have you overcome them? If not, what precautions have you taken to prevent health problems?
Thank pug, Maggie is very healthy, she has not been sick for a day. She is full of life, and I hope she will always be like this.
Why did you choose to start a social media account for your pug/s?
Once I found out every one loved her I thought it would be fun to share her adventures on IG, I never thought it would be such a succes….however.. how not to love this little pug face, she is adorable, she is my one and only love, and why not share this with the world.
Where can we follow your pugs adventures?
Maggie has her own IG account called @miss_maggie_the_pug
I hope you enjoyed getting to meet the human of Maggie and picked up a tip or two about owning a pug.
