Everyone loves reading the Social Pug Profile interviews with pugs from the social media scene. Well now it is time to put the pug parents in the spotlight to answer some questions about what it is like to own a pug in the Pug Parent Profile. Get to know the humans behind the pugs you love and pick up a tip or two for life with your pug. This week we are getting to know the human of Pugsley, Loki & Chester, Helen.
Name: Helen Gagen
Where do you live? Malvern, Worcestershire, UK
How many pugs do you own? 3
What are their names? Pugsley, Loki and Chester
Is your current pug/s your first?
For years I wanted a pug of my own. My partner once left a box on my doorstep with a teddy pug called Pugsley inside. He said one day I would have a real Pugsley of my own. 4 years ago my wish came true and Pugsley was mine.
Do you think your pugs personality matches yours?
I think my boys have similar traits to mine. We all like to sit on the sofa but we also like to walk the Malvern Hills where we live (except maybe Chester he’s quite lazy!). We also all get grumpy when hungry!
What did you expect a pug to be like before you got one?
I always expected them to be a funny character who would make us laugh! I was not wrong!
What was different to your expectation once you got a pug?
The main thing I didn’t expect was how smelly they are!!
What would be your number 1 tip for new pug parents?
Be prepared for them to be the ones who are in charge!
What do you hate most about having a pug?
I hate that they make me so emotional. My boys are my best friends and I can’t imagine life without them!
What do you love most about having a pug?
The happiness they bring me when they are happy!
What has been your biggest fear about owning a pug?
The fear they bring when they are unwell. I’m a nervous wreck!
Have you experienced any of the typical pug health problems? If so, how have you overcome them? If not, what precautions have you taken to prevent health problems?
Loki has suffered with an eye ulcer in the past but thankfully he was ok. I always try to keep their eyes lubricated every day to avoid future ulcers.
Why did you choose to start a social media account for your pug/s?
So that they can bring happiness to others like they do for me.
I hope you enjoyed getting to meet the human of Pugsley, Loki & Chester and picked up a tip or two about owning a pug.
