It is that time again where you get to know a pug from the social media scene in our popular Social Pug Profile series. This week it is Franklin, a gorgeous boy who moved countries with his humans. Get to know Franklin in this interview.
Name: Franklin (but sometimes my humans like to call me the slug)
Birth date or Gotcha Date: 13 January 2015
Where do you live?
For the first two years of my life I lived by the beach in Sydney, Australia. Then last year I moved to Portland, Oregon with my humans and cat brother and sister.
What is your favourite time of the day?
Dinner time duh! Closely followed by breakfast time.
What is your favourite food?
If I had to narrow it down I’d say sardines, apple and blueberries. But honestly I haven’t met a food yet that I didn’t like.
Do you have a toy that you can’t live without?
My Porg toy from Star Wars. My humans say it kinda looks like me, but not as handsome of course!
What do you hate the most?
Horses on TV (I just don’t trust them) and the evil yellow nail clippers.
What do you love the most?
I really, really love playing fetch which some people say is pretty special for a pug. I also love when my humans say any of my favourite words like ‘food’, ‘dinner’, ‘treat’, ‘walk’ or ‘ball’.
Do you have any bad habits?
I mean really I’m practically perfect in every way! But if you asked my humans they would probably say, trying to eat the cat litter – it’s made out of corn and tastes delicious! Also, warning them about those horses on TV – you’re welcome humans!
What do you think is your best quality?
That’s a tough one since I have so many! People always say they love my double-curl tail which looks like a cinnamon bun. But my humans would probably say my sense of humour and how loveable I am.
What does a typical day look like for you?
The day starts with me waking up snuggling with my humans in bed (I sneak up there during the night without them knowing).
Then after a delicious breakfast we’ll usually go for a walk or to the park with my best friend Bruce (he’s a sausage dog but he’s still pretty cool). That’s a pretty exhausting morning so then I have a long nap and only wake up for a treat or to play a game with my cat sister, Frida.
In the evening, I wait downstairs and get really excited when my human Dad gets home from work. After that it’s time for dinner, which I polish off in a couple of minutes. Then I’ll cuddle with my humans on the couch while they watch TV, I’m usually asleep unless I see one of those creepy horses on the screen.
What is your favourite adventure you have been on so far?
I starred in an ad for Google which was pretty cool but it’s hard work being such a great model! My humans have also taken me to lots of cool places here in the USA like Seattle, camping in the Oregon forest and hiking in the mountains. I’m pretty brave and adventurous and like to go wherever my humans go.
How did you cope with the move from Sydney, Australia to Portland, USA?
I was a little sleepy from the big plane ride but after a delicious meal I felt much better.
There are lots of things I miss about Australia, like walks on the beach and swims. But Portland is pretty cool too, besides the rain which I hate. I’m allowed in lots of shops and restaurants with my humans here, there are squirrels to chase and lots of dog parks.
What tips do you have for a pug moving country? My humans made me spend a lot of time in the crate I would be travelling in before we left to make sure I would be calm and comfortable in there.
Also, I would tell any pugs out there to make lots of sad faces to really capitalise on your human’s guilt about making you fly in plane. That will definitely get you lots and lots of treats!
What do you love most about having an Instagram account?
Now that I live on the other side of the world it’s great that my human’s families and friends (aka my fan club) can follow all my adventures and see my handsome face every day.
